Position Summary:
Responsible for providing skilled nursing care to terminally ill patients at Casey House. Responsibilities include assessing the needs of the patient and providing and documenting patient care in a caring and compassionate manner. To provide evidenced based nursing care to provide symptom management and emotional support in an inpatient setting. Exhibits expert end-of-life care and provides supervision to Hospice Aides.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides nursing care for hospice patients admitted to Casey House.
- Implements nursing plans of care for assigned patients.
- Completes all documentation within agency guidelines and in accordance with agency standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program. B.S.N preferred.
- Current State of Maryland Nursing License. CHPN preferred.
- One year of recent clinical nursing experience in medical-surgical, oncology or critical care environment.
- Previous hospice experience preferred. Excellent physical assessment, pain assessment and IV skills.
- Requires strong critical thinking skills and EMR experience.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with patients and families under stress.
