Hospice care that feels like family

For over 40 years, Montgomery Hospice has supported families through illness, caregiving, and loss. As a nonprofit, community-based organization, we answer to people, not shareholders. Every dollar we receive goes directly into compassionate care, connection, and support for our neighbors.

Founded in 1981, we have grown from a grassroots effort to a regional leader in hospice and palliative care. Our team of physicians, nurses, social workers, spiritual counselors, CNAs, grief counselors, and volunteers provides care wherever patients call home. When symptoms cannot be managed at home, patients can receive round-the-clock medical attention at Casey House, our 14-bed inpatient facility designed for comfort and peace.

Decades of trusted hospice care in Maryland

Montgomery Hospice was Maryland’s first independent, licensed hospice. Since our founding, we have remained committed to serving with compassion and purpose.

  • 1981: Hospice at Home began in a church basement in Chevy Chase, serving seven patients.
  • 1999: Casey House opened as the only inpatient hospice facility in Montgomery County.
  • 2001: We established Palliative Medicine Consultants of Greater Washington to support people earlier in their illness.
  • 2019: We expanded into Prince George’s County, forming Montgomery & Prince George’s Hospice.
  • Today: Under the updated name of Montgomery & Prince George’s Hospice, we serve more than 2,700 patients annually and offer grief support to over 5,700 community members.
