Support that meets you where you are
At Montgomery & Prince George’s Hospice, we offer specialized palliative care for people living with chronic or advanced illness no matter their age, stage, or prognosis. Our goal is simple: to help you feel better, live well, and make informed choices about your care.
Palliative Medicine of Greater Washington (PMC) is part of the Montgomery Hospice, Inc. family. We are nonprofit, community-based, and always grounded in compassion. We have supported families through illness and caregiving for more than 40 years, and we are honored to do the same for you.
What is Palliative Care?
Palliative care is extra support for people with serious illness. It focuses on relieving pain, managing symptoms, and improving quality of life while also addressing emotional, spiritual, and practical needs.
Unlike hospice care, palliative care can begin at any time during your illness, even alongside treatments like chemotherapy, dialysis, or surgery. You do not need to stop curative treatment to receive palliative care.
Palliative care is additional support that helps you feel more like yourself.
Who can benefit from Palliative Care?
You may benefit from palliative care if you are living with a serious illness such as:
- Cancer
- Heart failure or heart disease
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- Kidney or liver disease
- Dementia or Alzheimer’s
- Parkinson’s or other neurological conditions
- Any chronic condition causing pain, fatigue, or emotional distress
Palliative care is also helpful if you are dealing with frequent hospitalizations, complex treatment decisions, or caregiver stress.
